A Solid Foundation

What's up, guys?  Hope all is going well in your world!  I want to go ahead and post the first official blog.  I pray that God will use this to be a blessing to you!  If you have any suggestions or questions, just e-mail me at: bibleprophecy77@yahoo.com .

Between the ages of 11-12, guys can start entering the most stressful and chaotic stage of their development called "puberty".   During this stage,  changes start to occur in the body and in the mind.  Most of the changes that occur in the mind is directly caused by what happens in our bodies.  So what exactly happens during this time?  Hormones, especially testosterone, starts surging through our veins.  These hormones can cause our voices to deepen (sometimes it will squeak before it deepens) and our bodies to grow hair everywhere.  We start to notice that our penus isn't just for peeing! (What fun!).   We start noticing girls more.  Then besides all that, we have to deal with peer pressure to fit in with other guys.  Whether that be cursing, taking drugs, becoming a bully, drinking, looking at porn, etc....

So how does a guy deal with all these changes?

The best thing a guy can do to deal with these changes is by keeping his feet rooted into a firm foundation.  How does a guy do that?

First and foremost, the guy should accept Christ as his Lord and Savior.  Second, after accepting Christ as Lord and Savior, the guy should start reading the Bible to start building on that foundation.  Having your feet planted in the foundation of Christ and your mind on the words of Christ will help you to swim through these chaotic waters.

Matthew 7:24-27 (NIV) tells of the importance of having Christ as your foundation:

24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

Having Christ as your foundation will help you to cope well with the changes that are going on in your body.  It will also help you defend yourself against the attacks of your mind that Satan your enemy can throw at you.  Having Christ as your foundation will give you comfort when other students make fun of you for standing up for your beliefs.  When you have your feet planted firmly in Christ, no matter who or what attacks you, you will not be defeated.

However, if you do NOT have you feet planted in Christ and your focus is NOT in Christ, then when the attacks come, you will be like the house that fell with a "great crash".  Without Christ, you will fall for anything.  You will not be able to defend yourself against peer pressure. You will stress out and might even become suicidal over the changes that are occuring in your life. When someone offers you drugs or alcohol or porn, you won't be able to say "No".  Then soon, you may find yourself addicted to all kinds of things. Before you know it, you find that your life is out-of-control.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!  I am going to do a series of blogs on most of the topics that teenage guys deal with during puberty.  But none of that advice will work or do you any good, if you don't have Christ in your life!  You can either pay for an ounce of prevention now to prevent the sin sickness later on or you can purchase a pound of cure later...It's your choice.

Have you started to build your foundation with Christ?  If not, what are you waiting for?  Accept Him as your Lord and Savior today!

  1. Great entry! My mom passed away when I was 12 as you probably know, and not only was that a difficult age for me because of that reason, but a few months later, my "balls dropped" lol! and puberty got the best of me! But coming to Christ and accepting Him as my Savior has helped me deal with a lot of things. Many people would roll their eyes when I say something like that, but it's true! I think what you are doing with this blog is great! There are a lot of Christian guys out there dealing with the things that come with age.

Oh, and thank you for your comment (about masturbation) on my blog! I should've specified about the act of masturbation not being a sin itself. and thank you for being willing to explain that topic further because I think, without my intention at all, I confused a few people there lol. I just listed a few sexual sins without going into specifics about each one since it was just a portion of the topic. I will let the boys know if/when you explain this subject in depth so that we can clear any confusions! Thank you so much for helping me out on this. I'm not the only one who appreciates it, so do many boys who have subscribed to you! God bless you for doing this :)
